Ford Focus: Best Car to Buy 2012

Each year, editors at TheCarConnection drive over 200 vehicles thousands of miles before narrowing it down to 50-or-so top-notch cars. From there they choose what they believe to be the year's "Best Car to Buy." And this year, they chose none other than the 2012 Ford Focus. Pretty cool, right? We certainly think so.

Why the Focus? Well to start, it received a score of nine on a ten-point scale for it's aerodynamic redesign. It's a great city car because it's compact, but reviewers also noted its impressive cargo space. This would make it an excellent choice for families in either style (4-door sedan or a 5-door hatchback). Add to it the award-winning safety features and the fuel-efficient 160-hp engine, and you've got yourself a zippy little urban vehicle. TheCarConnection even awarded it an 8-out-of-10 for performance, claiming that even without a turbo edition, "the Focus feels alive, with sweet steering and a sporty ride."1

We have to say, however, that with a price-cap of $50,000, the Focus had some really excellent competition this year. Other cars up for the award were the Civic, the Veloster and even the Elantra. But, according to TheCarConnection, the Focus was the ultimate winner because it's an efficient little car that doesn't compromise on room, features, safety or performance. Oh, and it gets better: all of that for a starting MSRP of $18,300.
