2019 Ford F-150 — Which Body Style Should You Choose?
Deciding on the 2019 F-150 as your next pickup truck is just one step of the process. There are dozens of configurations that Ford offers to help drivers find the perfect match.
If you need a truck for its utility, you could consider getting an extended cab for example. By doing a quick exercise where you write down the things you will use your truck for and the percentage of time you spend doing each you can determine which option is best for you.
The style of the truck also plays a role in the process of buying a new F-150 and you can choose from six different trim styles that offer stylish chrome accents, accessories, and features.

F-150 Regular Cab
The stock 2019 F-150 regular cab is the base model with three seats and is a great jumping off point. The 2019 Ford F-150 has an appealing style and sometimes keeping it simple is the way to go. If you are fine with the three seats in the standard regular cab, you can get either a 6.5-foot bed or an 8-foot bed for hauling.
If you don’t plan on hauling heavy equipment or oversized loads the 6.5-foot bed will work great and it is a little easier to handle, especially when parking in the city. You can spruce up the regular cab F-150 with the Chrome Package, Sport Package, or Special Edition Package that upgrades wheels, trim, and decals.
The next step up is the 2019 F-150 SuperCab that also has a 6.5-foot bed but seats an extra two passengers for a total of five. An additional door on either side is added for rear passengers on the military-grade aluminum alloy body.
The 2019 F-150 SuperCab offers much more passenger room and it is ideal for a family. The 2019 F-150 SuperCab also has several great safety features including five airbags around all the seats, a lane-keeping system, and helpful technology for towing like the Blind Spot Information System that alerts you if a vehicle enters your blind spot. You can travel with peace of mind with the whole family and the trailer in tow with the least amount of stress possible.
The 2019 F-150 SuperCrew combines a spacious interior that seats up to five with a pickup truck powerhouse platform. Buyers can choose a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 all the way up to a 5.0-liter Ti-VCT V8 FFV packing from 290 horsepower to 395 horsepower.
Ford’s legendary 5.0-liter Ti-VCT V8 was popularized in the Mustang and it has become a mainstay in Ford’s lineup. The 2019 F-150 SuperCrew offers either a 5.5-foot bed or a 6.5-foot bed depending on your need. The front center seat can fold down into an armrest and cup holder when not in use and the rear passenger seats have their own climate controls and lighting.
When it comes time to dress up your new 2019 F-150 pickup you can choose from any of Ford’s six trim packages including the XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum and Limited. The XL offers the most base level trim package with automatic headlights, 17-inch wheels, and pre-wired trailer connections. There are also more customization options for power accessories including MyKey and smartphone app integration.
The F-150 XLT offers a similar package with 17-inch alloy wheels but also includes fog lights and a keypad entry system. Other upgrades with the XLT package include carpeting, rear privacy glass, lumbar adjustment, and adjustable headrests.
The F-150 Lariat trim package adds front tow hooks, slightly larger 18-inch wheels, puddle lamps, and powered mirrors that fold inward.
The F-150 King Ranch trim package is nearing Ford’s upper echelon of categories and it is only available for the SuperCrew cabin. Features of the King Ranch include an integrated trailer brake control system, heated rear seats, fog lamps, 18-inch alloy wheels, and powered mirrors.
The F-150 Platinum trim package is just one step removed from Ford’s top package and offers a host of luxuries features included in the other trim packages, powered running boards, an aluminum interior trim, and a size upgrade to 20-inch alloy wheels.
The sixth and final trim package offered for the F-150 is the Limited. The Limited trim package is the most recent to be added to Ford’s lineup and features 22-inch alloy wheels, unique decal styling, electronic mirrors, and running boards, heated seats, fog lamps, tow hooks, and pre-wired trailer connections.
If all of these trim packages, options, and styles don’t quite cut it, you could go all out with the most powerful beast of a pickup on the road, the F-150 Raptor. The Raptor is on the cutting edge and brings 450 horsepower to the streets and off-road environments. It features a widened military-grade aluminum body with a 450-horsepower twin turbo V6 under the hood. The Raptor has a paddle-shifted 10-speed automatic transmission that will bring the truck from a standstill to 60 miles per hour in 5.1 seconds. The Raptor can pull up to 8,000 pounds and can handle a 1,200-pound load in the bed.
The superior suspension of the Raptor cruises over the trails with near reckless abandon and is only for the most extreme truck enthusiasts. The spacious and modern interior boasts heated and cooled leather seats and custom color choices. In the center console is Ford’s infotainment system known as Sync 3, which is comprehensive and user-friendly. Sync 3 is compatible with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The Raptor has a higher clearance than the other F-150 models, which is ideal for off-roading but makes loading and unloading a little more cumbersome compared to its counterparts.
The F-150 Raptor is also packed with Ford’s latest safety features including forward-collision warning, automated emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, blind spot monitor, and cross traffic alert. The Raptor also has adaptive dampers from Fox Racing and low-speed cruise control tailored just for the trail called Trail Control.
