Introducing the 2018 Ford EcoSport

April 4th, 2018 by

Undoubtedly a smaller SUV than the rest of the Ford lineup, the 2018 Ford EcoSport could also be referred to as a “Spacious Urban Vehicle.” As the first Indian-assembled mini-SUV to land on United States soil, its designers are experts in getting the most utility from a vehicle. We strongly believe that all other mini-SUV types will eventually copy the EcoSport’s grand design and the Ford EcoSport has already generated a tremendous amount of interest. The 2018 Ford EcoSport is available for sale at Zeck Ford, in Leavenworth, Kansas City.

While maximizing its interior space, this updated Ford maintains a unique style and can navigate the Kansas City traffic with ease, gracefully squeezing its narrow self into parking spaces you could hardly believe possible.

Ford spotted a gap in the market and listened to buyers’ concerns when the development of the Ford EcoSport begun. Most people still want a vehicle with the power and versatility of an SUV, but they also want the comfort of a car and the better gas mileage. As somewhat of a cross between the Fiesta and the Escape, the EcoSport can be the best of both worlds and even has a lower price point.

Times are changing, and so are car buyers’ preferences. The mini-SUV automobile style of vehicle is now steadily penetrating the market due to its increasing demand. Modern buyers see that they can get everything they could want from a single vehicle and not need to make any compromises. 2017 saw the mini-SUV model register sales soaring to well above half a million dollars in the United States alone.

Almost all the main car manufacturers are now introducing their own fashion of the mini-SUV. All these are however nothing compared to the 2018 Ford EcoSport mini-SUV, a machine that has been perfected abroad for over 15 years.

Though it bears similarities to them both, the 2018 Ford EcoSport is noticeably taller than the Fiesta and shorter than the Escape. Its box shape contributes to the ample space inside. It boasts a better driving position and head allowance than most similar vehicles too. This splendid vehicle is now available in the following models each coming with its own special specs and options –

2018 Ford EcoSport Base S

The Base S is the most affordable EcoSport on the list going from as little as $19,995.

This price includes the SYNC infotainment system, 16-inch alloy wheels, a backup camera and a 4.2” infotainment display.

It’s powered by a 123-horsepower 1.0-liter 3.0-cylinder engine, has front-wheel drive, a 6-speed automatic transmission, and can get 27 miles per gallon in the city and 29 miles per gallon on the highway. For an SUV with so much versatility, these figures are impressive.

2018 Ford EcoSport Mid-Level SE

This Ford EcoSport SE is now selling at around $22,905 in the United States market.

You will find that it shares some basic characteristics with the base S model such as the powertrain but it also comes complete with a 6-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay support, a power moonroof, automatic air conditioner and even SiriusXM, making it a good choice for families.

2018 Ford EcoSport Lux Titanium

The Titanium has a higher price than its two sisters above but includes a HARMAN B&O Play system with nine speakers, its navigation is voice-activated, and it has an 8-inch touchscreen, 17-inch alloys, and leather seats.

It is going for around $25,740 at current US market prices.

2018 Ford EcoSport SES

At $26,740, the SES is the most expensive of all the EcoSports but it includes a 2.0-liter 166-horsepower 4-cylinder engine and has four-wheel drive. It gets 23 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.

With the SES, you also get a sports suspension, blind spot detection and rear cross traffic monitoring.

Should I Choose the EcoSport or the Escape?

We are often asked whether the Ford EcoSport or the Ford Escape is the best option for someone looking to buy a small-to-midsize SUV in 2018.

The EcoSport has a smaller interior, and this is most noticeable in the rear seating area. The Escape is 16.8 inches longer, 3 inches wider, and the wheelbase is 6 inches higher than the EcoSport. The leg space is basically the same in both of these vehicles. In comparing headroom, the Escape is 1.5 inches taller, but the EcoSport makes up for it with its tall mounted seats.

The EcoSport is easier to park because of its compact build and easier to maneuver in tight places. Both the EcoSport and the Escape outshine the larger SUVs like the Ford Explorer or the Ford Edge in maneuverability.

If you plan to go off-road on a regular basis, we suggest the Escape over the EcoSport. For city driving, though, you may prefer the feel of the EcoSport.

The cargo space is 20.9 cu. ft. behind the second-row seat and when lowered the total capacity is 50 cu ft. In comparison, the Escape has 34 cu. ft. with the seats up and 68 cu ft. when lowered.

The EcoSport is smaller inside, mainly in the back. However, it has a more modern flair than the Escape with its touchscreen dash and the SES model’s orange/copper trim that adds that extra special touch of elegance. The design contrast is one of the most distinguishing factors between the 2018 EcoSport and the 2018 Escape.

For a single person or a couple in Leavenworth that likes to travel and experience the outdoors – we think the Ford EcoSport is perfect for you! It’s stylish, inexpensive, great on gas, has the improved cargo space of an SUV and has the driving feel of a car. The 2018 Ford EcoSport has the potential to be one of the most sought-after automobiles of the future. If current trends are anything to go by, the mini-SUV will continue to invade the car market and reshape it at will.
