One of the ways the team was able to keep the weight down on the engine while keeping the durability high was to use the same iron block compacted-graphite material that they used in the 2.7-liter EcoBoost. The team chose a highly efficient turbocharger so that the turbo lag was reduced and the responsiveness was increased. The common-rail fuel injection system used makes the vehicle perform better and increases fuel efficiency and the high-pressure injection calibration (29,000 lbs./square inch) will give you a smoother, quieter ride with less emissions being produced. Dual filters improve the break-in and the two-stage oil pump and cast-aluminum oil pan reduce parasitic loss to improve the fuel efficiency.
To be able to make the most fuel-efficient F-150, Ford had to go with the high-strength, aluminum-alloy body that we introduced in the 2015 model. This body lightened the load of the vehicle by 700 pounds and because of this, Ford was able to have stronger axles paired with a steel frame to add to the strength of the 2018 model.
The new engine that the team came up with focuses on extreme driving conditions and has a premium engine-driven mechanical fan as well as dual radiator shutters for better performance when you are driving in high temperatures or high altitude. This transmission maximizes shift points and gear ratios so that you can optimize power and efficiency of the vehicle.
