Everything You Need to Know About the 2021 Fusion Active
Check Out This New Ford Car for Sale in Kansas City
Surprise! Ford Motor Company apparently couldn’t bear to part with the Fusion in 2020 as originally planned, and the car will remain in the lineup for 2021 in two forms: the Fusion sedan, if only temporarily, and the Fusion Active, an athletic-looking crossover-esque station wagon.
Because it’s expected to compete with the Subaru Outback, we think the Fusion Active will have all-wheel drive and a slightly higher ride height than a standard sedan. And while we’ve heard whispers that the Active could come with a hybrid or plug-in hybrid powertrain, like you, we’ll have to wait until Ford gives us confirmation. Are you as excited about it as we are?
Ford Fusion Pricing
Based on what we know and considering Ford’s MSRP for its other vehicles, we think you’ll see the Fusion Active starting at a modest $29,000 – but Zeck Ford is known for best pricing, so visit us to save money on your new station wagon crossover. Of course, the price will increase with each trim level, like any vehicle on the market. We’re hopeful for four trim levels total, serving between 175 and at least 245 horsepower, like previous Fusion model years.
Included in the price is Ford’s standard warranty:
- 3 year/36,000 mile limited warranty
- 5 year/60,000 mile powertrain warranty
New Ford Fuel Efficiency
Without information on the engines that Ford will drop into the Fusion Active, we don’t really know what to expect as far as fuel economy goes. However, the 2020 Ford Fusion achieved between 20 and 23 miles per gallon in the city and 29 and 34 miles per gallon on the highway. It would be unwise of Ford to not attempt to match or beat these numbers, especially as competitors are perfecting their powertrain offerings and introducing additional hybrid models.
The Interior of the New Fusion for Sale
Until Ford makes its official announcement, we won’t know precise information about the Fusion Active. However, we anticipate that the automaker will use what they already know to design and assemble the interior, for example, the Mustang Mach-E crossover or mid-size Explorer.
These two vehicles are known for their stylish interiors with digital gauges, touchscreen stereo system, interior storage, adequate cargo space, and an infotainment system that integrates with your smartphone through Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. To keep up with the competition and align with other vehicles, we assume the Fusion Active will come with these, in addition to other optional upgrades, like improved stereo systems, power controls, and more.
Safety Features of the New Ford Fusion Crossover
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) have not yet crash-tested the new Fusion Active. Ford also has not announced the drive-assistance technology or safety features it will offer on the station wagon. However, the 2020 Ford Fusion came with lots of safety features, just as it has had for years previous.
For the 2021 Ford Fusion, we think it will come with two full sets of LATCH car-seat connectors for the rear outer seats, with an upper tether anchor for the rear middle seat, just as the 2020 Fusion had. Standard active safety features usually include a rearview camera, the Ford Co-Pilot360 suite with lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, and forward automatic emergency braking. Options include rear parking sensors and cruise control. We’d be surprised to not see these in the new station wagon.
